The challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and changing customers' requirements are forcing many print service providers to rethink their print production. Shorter runs, customization and orders with shortest delivery time can only be produced profitably if manual touch points get reduced and workflows connected. Having an agnostic workflow tool that integrates prepress, press and post-press is essential for wide format printers to future-proof their business.

End-to-end workflow for wide format printers incl. file analysis, file optimization and production file set-up. OneVision's Wide Format Automation Suite accomplishes the approach of a hassle-free link between order entry and handover to print production and finishing. As a so-called ”middleware“, the software enables print service providers to implement a holistic end-to-end workflow: through the direct integration to the web shop or the MIS the Wide Format Automation Suite monitors hot folders, web and FTP servers as well as email accounts for incoming orders, downloads them and processes them automatically. Based on the job properties given in the job ticket, the Wide Format Automation Suite starts with the preflight, checking on up to 130 different criteria and automatically correcting detected errors (e. g. generating bleed, reducing file complexity, color management, flattening transparencies…).

Time, material and cost savings with automated nesting, ganging and cut line generation. After the corrections, the software automatically prepares the file for the printing and finishing process: Functions especially developed for the requirements of wide format printers, such as nesting/ganging (double-side nesting supported), paneling, adding hemstitches, cut line creation etc. set up print-ready files. Ultimately, the software automatically transfers the corresponding production files to the printing machines and finishing devices.

How the Wide Format Automation Suite has already helped numerous wide format printers to benefit from shorter make-ready, production and turnaround times, less manual touches, reduced waste and higher profitability can be experienced at the virtual FESPA Innovation & Trends Wide Format & Decor Series on May 26 and 27, 2021. As a sponsor, OneVision will be available to all interested parties with a virtual online booth and provide insights on automated production workflow and file preparation during live sessions: General Session, May 26, 1.10 – 2.00 pm: “Margins up! From signage, banners, displays, wall graphics, vehicle wrapping to small format items – one software solution to automate production file preparation (print + finishing) for all wide format applications”

Technical Workshops: Workshop 1, May 26, 4:30 – 5.10 pm: Banners, posters, displays: How to set up an automated production workflow and file preparation (printing + finishing). Workshop 2, May 27, 4:30 – 5.10 pm: Signage & stickers: How to set up an automated production workflow and file preparation (printing + finishing).
